In the first half of 2016, the Netherlands held the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the 12th time. Also in Sweden we have set up a "EU Presidency programme". The attached report shows a selection of the activities that have taken place.
This morning the families of the victims of the MH17 disaster were briefed by the Joint Investigation Team on the initial findings of the criminal investigation into the downing of flight MH17. These findings concern the weapon used to down flight MH17, the location from which it was fired and the Buk missile system’s route of transport.
On the occasion of the Stockholm Pride 2016, which will take place from 25th to 31st July 2016, we express our support for efforts to enhance the promotion and protection of human rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex persons in Sweden and to raise public awareness of the issues affecting the LGBTI communities in Sweden. Between 10 and 15 May, Diplohack Stockholm was organised. Challenged by Minister Bert Koenders, tech developers were challenged to build apps that would improve transparency of EU decision-making, by using EU open data in fields such as mobility, healthcare, education and sustainability. For Diplohack Stockholm the theme "sustainable development" was chosen. Diplohack Stockholm was organised by the Netherlands Embassy, in cooperation with the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Impact Hub Stockholm.
The winner of the "Cycling Festival Europe" photo competition is Sylwia Kurzeja. Congratulations! The photo competition was organised in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden to highlight the Cycling Festival Europe.

Europe Day is the annual celebration of peace and unity in Europe, celebrated on 9 May. In Stockholm, Europe Day 2016 will be held at Södra Teatern. The embassy will present the Netherlands as a cycling destination. From 17.15 we offer the free lecture performance "De Man in Europe".
