400 years of friendship

In 1614, the first Swedish embassy in the world was established in The Hague. During 2014, Sweden and the Netherlands celebrates these 400 years of friendship and future cooperation. On the dedicated SWE400NL-website we publish news items and events that will take place during the year. The website is aimed at a Swedish and Dutch audience.

September 16, 2014 On Budget Day (Prince's Day), on the third Tuesday in September, the government announces its plans for the coming year. The King travels in the Golden Coach to the Hall of Knights in The Hague where he reads the Speech from the Throne. Later that day, the Minister of Finance presents the National Budget and the Budget Memorandum to the House of Representatives in the ceremonial briefcase.
